STRATEGIC EXPANSION OF ICM  GROUP IN WEST AND CENTRAL AFRICA

 
The project aimed to meet local content requirements, establish strategic partnerships with local companies, and enhance online and virtual training offerings for the upstream oil sector.

Context:

 Client: ICM People Group, a recognized provider of technical assistance for the upstream, oil and gas sector, specializing in human resources management, technical capacity development and on-site coaching.


 Sector: Oil and Gas (upstream).


 Challenge: Expand ICM People’s core activities in West and Central Africa, with a particular focus on Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and Mauritania, to capture opportunities in the offshore drilling and related technical services sectors.

Solution provided:

Initial diagnosis:

  • Analysis of target markets to identify growth opportunities.

  • Assessment of local stakeholders and specific needs for petroleum services and technical training.

Key actions:

Strategic advice:

  • Assistance to the Chairman/CEO in growth decisions
    external to establish solutions adapted to the West African market.

  • Development of a Business Plan for eligibility for funding from the European Commission.

Business development:

  • Negotiation of strategic partnerships and joint ventures with local companies in five target countries.

  • Audits of sites and partners to ensure their compliance with ICM policies and professional ethics standards.

  • Proposal of recommendations to harmonize the terms of collaboration between ICM and local stakeholders.

Extended training offer:

  • Identification of accredited national and international partners for the development of online (e-learning) and virtual training, particularly in the development of technical, safety, HSE and maritime skills for the upstream, oil and gas sector.

  • Development and management of technical calls for tender for an LMS (Learning Management System) platform dedicated to professional training in the oil industry.

Financial leverage:

  • Start of fundraising of several tens of thousands of Euros from the European Commission's investment fund to finance the training platform and intelligent recruitment software based on artificial intelligence.

Result:

Measured impact

  • Initiation of collaborative partnerships with local oil service companies in five countries (Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, Guinea
    Equatorial, Mauritania).

  • Launch of new online and virtual training services, strengthening ICM's overall offering.

  • Expanded access to West African oil markets through partnerships that meet local content requirements.
